Essential Tips and FAQ:
Don’t skip these tips – read them before mixing to avoid any potential mistakes.
- Make sure you add the sorbet last, so the red, white, and blue all show up.
- Don’t mix the drinks together before serving. The blue Hawaiian Punch in particular tends to turn purple once mixed with the sorbet.
- If you’re serving a bunch of people, freeze individual scoops of sorbet on a cookie sheet a day or so in advance and have them ready in cupcake liners for your guests.
- We found the red, white, & blue sorbet at our local WalMart, but sometimes you can find red, white, and blue Italian Ice. You can also use vanilla ice cream or lemon sorbet if you can’t find it..
- The red, white, & blue sorbet can be difficult to scoop. It helps to let it soften a bit first and use an ice cream scoop with a gel handle.
Substitutions and Adaptations:
- Sorbet: If you can’t find the sorbet we used here, you can also use vanilla ice cream, lemon sorbet, or even Luigi’s red, white, and blue sorbet.
- Alternatively, you can also swap out the sorbet for a topping of whipped cream and patriotic sprinkles.
- Lemon lime soda: Feel free to substitute sparkling lemonade, or even ginger ale for a flavorful change up.
FAQs:
Can I Make this Punch in a big batch?
This punch would look fantastic in two side-by-side beverage dispensers! Here’s what you’ll need for each 2-3 gallon punch bowl or beverage dispenser:
Add half a gallon Hawaiian Punch (red or blue) and 2 liters of lemon lime soda to a punch bowl or pitcher. Scoop a quart of red, white, and blue sorbet on top.
Important Note: You’ll want to prepare your punch right before serving it so you can still see all the colors, otherwise it might turn purple before guests get a chance to enjoy it.
Can I store any leftovers?
Unfortunately, this punch doesn’t store well. It will still taste okay if kept refrigerated, but all the different colors of the sorbet will melt into the punch and turn it into a single color.
