Planning a tea party is a delightful way to celebrate any special occasion. But before you can put on the perfect soiree, you need to decorate your space in style. Which is why we’ve pulled together 23 of the most adorable tea party decorations.

Whether you’re planning a baby shower, birthday party, Mother’s Day celebration, or just an afternoon with the gals, with a few simple DIY ideas, you can transform your space into the most charming tea party ever!

A pink graphic that says easy DIY tea party decorations on a budget.

Tea party decorations can run the gamut from cute and kitschy to classic and elegant. There are so many pretty ideas out there, it can be easy to get distracted and end up with decor that doesn’t look properly coordinated. Here are a few tips to make sure you end up with a stylish tea party you can be proud of:

  1. Make a plan. Keep yourself organized by claiming your free copy of our printable one-page party planner at the bottom of this post. It’s designed specifically for DIYers in mind, with sections to plan out your prep time and  budget.
  2. Keep the purpose of your party in mind. Kids parties are generally more casual and can have funky decor, while bridal showers tend to be more elegant and sophisticated.
  3. Choose a color scheme and stick to it. Select 2-3 coordinating colors and use them throughout your decorations. Mix them with plenty of neutrals, and you’ll have a beautifully cohesive party.
  4. Include a bit of the guest of honor’s personal style. After all, this is her party! If she loves everything vintage, hunt for some pretty antique finds. Or if she likes things more modern, go for clean lines and bold graphics.
  5. Keep it simple. The more complicated your DIY party decorations are, the more time and money you’ll spend. Stick to a few simple decorations that you can easily put together. And don’t forget, sometimes the most beautiful decoration is something natural or organic, like fresh flowers from your own garden.

Now that you know how to pull together a gorgeous tea party, it’s time to get inspired by some of the most beautiful DIY decorations around.

A ruffly pink garland made out of coffee filters.

Coffee Filter Garland

Who knew that a pack of coffee filters and a bit of food coloring could create something so pretty? I strung together a couple hundred coffee filters with monofilament to create this fluffy garland, but you can make all sorts of other crafts like coffee filter flowers, buntings, and wreaths.

Here's how to Make Dyed Coffee Filters:

Place white coffee filters in a large bowl filled with water and a few drops of food coloring. Soak the coffee filters for 20-30 minutes.

Carefully remove them from the bowl and stack them up with paper towels between each coffee filter.

Press down to squeeze out as much water as possible. Separate the coffee filters again and let them dry.

As you can see, there are many budget-friendly DIY tea party decorations you can make. Just remember to pick decor that helps to set the mood for the party, and follows the tips we shared up above: 1) Make a plan, 2) keep the purpose of your party in mind, 3) choose a color scheme-and stick to it, 4) include the guest of honor’s personal style, and 5) keep it simple.

If you do all of those things, you’ll be sure to throw a beautiful tea party that won’t will be remembered for years to come.
