When most of the guests at your party are kids, there’s no point in wasting a ton of money on a veggie tray filled with expensive produce. Thankfully, during the Christmas season, there’s an easy way to make one that will appeal to the kids…a Christmas Tree veggie platter!
We’re going to go through the whole process of making a Christmas Tree veggie tray that is both adult and kid friendly. It’s an easy way to get more vegetables into everyone’s bellies without having them feel like punishment.
The best part? It only takes about fifteen minutes to assemble!
What Makes these So Great
If there’s one thing I’ve learned about kids parties, it’s that there’s no need to make a huge veggie platter.
Sure, that’s something that will go over well with adults, but usually it’s the adults eating the veggies even at the kids parties. Which is why I love this simple Christmas tree veggie platter:
- Filled with kid-friendly veggies, there’s practically no ‘yuck’ factor here.
- It super duper easy, and only takes a few minutes to throw together.
- Even if you’ve got leftovers at the end of the party, it’s a small platter, so it’s easy to repurpose the veggies for another meal.
Step-by-Step Directions:
To make things even easier for you, I created a simple photo guide below. For all the measurements we used check out the recipe card at the bottom of this page.
Step 1 – Arrange Your broccoli
On a flat tray, arrange the broccoli florets in the shape of a triangle. It’s easiest to do this if you cut small broccoli florets with flat stalks.
Make sure to leave room at the bottom of your platter for the tree trunk and dip bowls.
Step 2 – Cut a yellow bell pepper into strips
- Start by cutting the top off the bell pepper.
- Then remove the core and seeds from the center of the pepper.
- Slice the remainder of the bell pepper into 1/4 inch rings.
- Cut the rings of the bell pepper in half to create strips.
- Cut one of the bell pepper rings into three 2-inch strips, reserving the rest of that bell pepper ring to garnish the dips.
Step 3 – Add your bell pepper ‘ribbon’
Arrange the bell pepper strips in between the broccoli florets to create the look of ribbon going across a tree and stack a handful of baby carrots at the bottom of the tree to create the trunk.
Step 4 – Tomato ornaments!
Dot the grape tomatoes around on the broccoli tree to look like bright red ornaments.
Step 5 – Fill your dip bowls ‘presents’.
Fill two small square dip bowls with dips of your choice. (We used hummus and ranch dressing.)
Use some of the remaining bell pepper strips create the look of a ribbon on a present by cutting the strips very thinly and creating a cross on the top of your dip bowl.
On the other dip bowl, sprinkle finely diced bell pepper on top as garnish.
Step 6 – Make the Christmas Star
Make a star at the top of the tree with the three short bell pepper strips and place the dip bowls ‘underneath’ the tree like presents.

Storage Tips:
Make the tree portion of your Christmas tree veggie platter up to a day in advance. Wrap it tightly with plastic wrap and keep the tray refrigerated until it’s time to add the dips and serve.

- We used one dip bowl for hummus, and one dip bowl for ranch dressing.
- Avoid cutting the base of broccoli florets at an angle. If the base is flat, it will be easier to sit them on your tray.
- We used a 12x12 inch holiday tray which was a good size for about 4-5 adults.
