Essential Tips:
Don’t skip these tips – read them before mixing to avoid any potential mistakes.
- Make sure your champagne and apple cider are well chilled. This helps to keep your mimosas nice and refreshing.
- Pour your champagne correctly (Not like I do in the photos! Unfortunately I don’t have three hands to photograph and pour at the same time. 😉) Here’s what you should do. Slightly tip your wine glass while pouring, to avoid releasing all the bubbles in a frothy head. This way the bubbles last as long as possible.
- Choosing the right sparkling wine makes a big difference. There’s no need to spend a lot of money, but a good mid-range (about $20) Champagne or Prosecco should to the trick.
- Definitely serve these in champagne flutes or coupe glasses. Regular wine glasses won’t keep the bubbles like proper champagne flutes. If you don’t have enough flutes for a crowd, you can grab this inexpensive set of shatterproof champagne flutes, or some disposable champagne flutes.
When to serve this apple cider mimosa
This easy fall cocktail is perfect for so many occasions. Here are some ideas:
- Thanksgiving brunch
- Halloween parties
- Harvest parties
- Moms Night In
- Fall Bridal Showers
But let’s be honest, you don’t really need a special occasion to enjoy them. A relaxing afternoon at home can be reason enough.
More ways to Garnish your Apple Cider Mimosas:
I wanted to show you how easy it is to prepare these mimosas, so I didn’t do a special garnish. But if you want to up your game and get a little fancy, here are some ideas:
- Rim the glasses with a thin layer of caramel (if it’s too thick, it will start to drip down the sides)
- Add a cinnamon sugar rim to bring out the spices in the apple cider.
- Use brown sugar on the rim of the glasses to bring out the sweetness of the drink
- Add a cinnamon stick to each glass for a tasty finishing touch.
- Place a woody herb, such as rosemary, in the drink to give this apple cider cocktail a more earthy flavor.
How to Make Non-Alcoholic Apple Cider Mimosas
These are so easy to make non-alcoholic if you want to serve them for a kids party or baby shower. Simply substitute the sparkling wine with one of these options:
- Sparkling apple cider,
- Sparkling white grape juice,
- Lemon lime soda,
- Ginger ale,
- Or even a flavored seltzer water like Apple Berry La Croix
FAQs:
What is a Mimosa?
A mimosa is a refreshing, easy, and festive cocktail made with sparkling wine (Champagne, Prosecco, etc.) and fruit juice. The most popular easy mimosa is made with orange juice, but there are many delicious variations, like the apple cider mimosas here and these blueberry lemonade mimosas.
What is the difference between a Mimosa and a Bellini?
Mimosas and Bellinis are very similar. The biggest difference is that a Bellini uses fruit puree (peach puree is the classic choice) and a mimosa uses fruit juice.
I very nearly called this recipe an Apple Cider Bellini because of the apple slices inside the glass. But since the apples weren’t actually a puree, I felt it was more accurate to refer to it as a mimosa.
Can I Use Apple Juice instead of Apple Cider?
Technically, there’s no one thing that distinguishes apple cider from apple juice, so you could use apple juice in a pinch.
That said, I strongly recommend using apple cider if you can get it. A locally sourced, unfiltered apple cider will typically be much more flavorful than mass-produced apple juice.

What is the best Sparkling Wine to Use with Apple Cider Mimosas?
Champagne is the classic choice for a mimosa, but any sparkling wine will work.
Prosecco and brut are good choices, because they balance out the sweetness of the juice.
Can I make a pitcher of apple cider mimosas?
There’s nothing stopping you from combining everything into a pitcher for a party, but I wouldn’t recommend it. The sparkling wine will start to lose its bubbles and the drink will become less refreshing.
Make a DIY mimosa bar instead!
Pour your apple cider into a pretty pitcher with the apple slices inside, and have the sparkling wine in an ice bucket nearby.
Then, make a party sign instructing guests to pour equal parts champagne and cider into their glasses. Easy, peasy, and you don’t have to play bartender!
