How to Make a Nonalcoholic Watermelon Mojito
The awesome thing about this recipe is that you don’t really need the alcohol to enjoy it.
Simply skip the rum, and swap the club soda for ginger ale, Sprite, or a lime flavored seltzer water. Yum!

How to Make a Large Batch of Watermelon Mojitos for a Crowd
This recipe is simple enough to make one-by-one for a small group, but if you want to prep ahead for a party, here’s what I recommend:
(Serves 12)
- 4 cups watermelon, cubed
- 5 sprigs of mint (leaves only)
- 6 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 10-12 ounces lime juice
- 2-3 cups Ice
- 2 cups white rum
- One liter club soda
Directions:
- Add watermelon cubes, mint leaves, granulated sugar, and lime juice to a large pitcher.
- Muddle the ingredients together to dissolve the sugar, and release the watermelon juice and mint flavors.
- Stir in 2 cups white rum. Refrigerate for up to one day.
- When you’re ready to serve: Stir to incorporate the ingredients together again, add 2-3 cups ice cubes, then top with club soda.
You can also skip the rum when prepping the pitcher, and allow guests to add a splash of rum to their watermelon mojios if they choose. Don’t forget to grab an editable sign and add instructions for your guests so they can know to add the rum to their drinks.
Note: If you are letting this drink sit out for a while, you will want to have a long handled cocktail spoon available so the watermelon can be reincorporated periodically.

FAQs:
What does a watermelon mojito taste like?
A watermelon mojito is a lightly sweet, refreshing, and fruity twist on the classic mojito. With the addition of watermelon, the alcohol flavor isn’t overpowering at all.
They’re the perfect easy drink for a hot summer day.
What types of rum go best with a watermelon mojito?
Just like a classic mojito, you can use any light/white/silver rum for this recipe. You can also experiment with flavored rums.
Here are some tasty flavors to try:
- Bacardi lime,
- Malibu Coconut Rum,
- Even Pineapple Rum could be a fun tropical twist.
However, I don’t recommend spiced rum as it will compete with the flavors of the lime and mint.

What if I Don’t Have a Muddler?
Muddling is like the bartenders version of a mortar and pestle. It’s specifically designed to crush fruits so they release their juices, and herbs to release their essential oils.
In other words, if you don’t muddle your drink properly, the flavors are likely to get lost in your drink.
The good news is that muddlers are a cheap addition to your kitchen. They last forever, and you’ll also likely use it more often than you think.
But if you’re still not convinced, you can use the handle of a wooden spoon to crush your fruits and herbs in a pinch.
