Why Choose this Easter Scavenger Hunt?

Here’s why our scavenger hunt stands out (and why you’ll love it as much as the kids do):

  • Fun for All Ages – From toddlers to tweens, we’ve got everyone covered! Pre-readers can follow the picture cards while older kids can tackle a longer list with reading practice thrown in (sneaky, huh?).
  • Versatile – Perfect for both indoor and outdoor settings, like a cozy home or the back yard.
  • No-Fuss Fun – Just print, grab a few simple supplies, and you’re all set for an unforgettable Easter activity at practically zero cost.

What’s in the Free Download?

When you download this freebie, you’ll receive:

  • Instructions for how to use the file, including directions to convert the file if you prefer to use Cricut’s print and cut feature.
  • Version 1: Picture based scavenger hunt cards for early and pre-readers (1 page with two 4″x6″  cards)
  • Version 2: A detailed list for older kids who love a good challenge. These can even double as a fun group game. (1 page with two 4″x6″  cards)
  • Finder cards: These cards match up with the picture based scavenger hunt and are a great option if you don’t have all the items on hand (1 page)

All pages are formatted to fit standard 8.5″ x 11″ letter paper.

The file includes three pages with two types of cards.

How to Use the File

What You’ll Need

This game is pretty simple, all you’ll need is:

  • This file (get your free copy at the end of this post)
  • Printer and computer
  • White paper or cardstock
  • Scissors or a straight edge cutter
  • Items matching the scavenger hunt (or the finder cards)
  • Places to hide each item
  • Optional: Easter baskets for each player to gather their found items.
  • Optional: Pens, pencils, or markers to cross out items that have been found

Instructions

  1. Download the file to your computer.
  2. Open the PDF in Adobe Reader (if you don’t have it, you can download it for free – see tips below for more information.)
  3. Print as many copies of the scavenger hunt cards as you need on white printer paper or cardstock. Cut out the scavenger hunt cards and the finder cards (if using).
  4. Hide the matching items in your game space.
  5. Hand out cards and explain the rules—first to collect all items, wins!
  6. Bring everyone together to share their “finds” post-hunt over Easter treats.

Pro Tip: Make it more challenging by adding a timer and making it a race against the clock!

Important Tips to Remember

Ensure your wish lists come out looking flawless with these quick tips:

  • This file works best if opened in Adobe Reader. It may be able to open in other programs (e.g. Mac Preview), but I cannot guarantee that it will provide the best printing properties.
  • A straight-edge paper cutter makes the cards look a little neater, but scissors will do just fine.
  • Set your printer to “Best Quality” mode to bring out the vibrant colors.
  • These designs will look best on white card stock, but you can use regular printer paper as well.
  • Be sure to hide the items where they’re age-appropriate and safe to find.
  • Hosting a crowd? Pair up in teams for a little friendly competition!
  • Remove hazards from playing areas when playing outdoors to keep little ones safe.
  • Pair with prizes! Make it extra special by offering a mini Easter surprise for completing the hunt.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can this work for large groups or classrooms?

Sure! Each child or team can get their own copy of the hunt to fit their skill level. While I don’t recommend it for toddlers or very young children (read why here), older preschoolers should be able to play along with the picture based cards.

Can this be reused year after year?

Absolutely! Just save the PDF to your computer, and you’ll have it ready for next year—or even those rainy days when the kids need something fun to do.

Do I need to be crafty to prepare this?

Not at all! If you can download, print, and use scissors, you’re good to go.
