Easy beer biscuits with bisquick are so simple to make and ridiculously delicious. With only 3 ingredients, the batter whips up in about 5 minutes, which means they’re perfect for busy weeknights.
It can take a try or two to get the consistency just right, though, so make sure to follow these time tested tips so your beer biscuits come out just right every time.
There’s nothing quite like freshly baked bread.
While it’s in the oven, it fills your home with that special aroma. And sometimes I just like to hold a warm loaf or roll when it’s only a few minutes out of the oven, still warm in my hands. How can you not love the thought of homemade bread?
Well, I love the thought…I just don’t love the reality.
I don’t have hours upon hours to go through the whole process of kneading, rising, kneading, and then rising again. Sure, I could buy a can of premade biscuit dough. But sometimes we want the benefits of eating homemade bread, just without the hassle.
That’s why these beer biscuits with Bisquick are perfect.
They’re ridiculously fast, and super tasty. Best of all, you can easily experiment with the flavor by trying different styles of beer in the dough.
This is another tried-and-true recipe that came from my stepmother (who owned a catering company for over 20 years). I can remember waiting excitedly for dinners with beer biscuits. We used to positively drench the biscuits in butter, which was just heavenly.
But, unlike my version of her perfect asparagus recipe, these beer biscuits took some time to get just right.
I also added my own simple twist to the recipe that takes them completely over the top (and doesn’t require nearly as much butter).
You see, my stepmother and the rest of my family swear that you have to use very light beers such as Michelob Ultra. But the husband and I are craft beer people, which means it took quite some time to find a beer that’s just right.
We found that Vienna Lager from Devil’s Backbone was perfect for the whole family. The flavor was nice and light, which didn’t overwhelm the biscuit dough.
Even our pickiest eater loved beer biscuits made with it.
But, if you want to enjoy a hoppier flavor in your beer biscuits, then you might want to try something like an IPA. Just don’t be surprised if the kids turn them down after a couple bites. (More for you!)
What You’ll Need:
Ingredients:
- Bisquick (make sure you get the right kind!)
- Light beer (we like Vienna Lager from Devil’s Backbone)
- Kosher or Sea Salt

How to Make Easy Beer Biscuits
First up, throw some Bisquick in a bowl and stir in some of your favorite beer.
The photo above isn’t the prettiest, but it should still give you a good idea of the consistency you’re going for. As you can see, it’s not runny at all. It holds its shape well, and is even a bit sticky.
Spoon dollops of biscuit dough onto a prepared pan, and then add a generous sprinkle of salt.
The salt is what makes these biscuits really go over the top. Mmmmmm.
Bake at 350 degrees for 6-10 minutes depending on the size and consistency of your biscuits.
You want to see the tops just barely start to look golden brown. Much more than that and you risk ending up with tough biscuits.
Time-Tested Tips for Making Beer Biscuits with Bisquick:
- Use the beer sparingly. Too much beer will make your dough too thin, which will result in flat, unattractive biscuits.
- Don’t overmix the batter. You want the biscuit mix to be just barely wet, but without too many lumps. Overmixing will give your biscuits the same issues as too much beer. Just don’t do it.
- Baking time will depend on the size of your biscuits and the density of your batter.
- These biscuits are best eaten the same day you make them. If you want to eat them the next day, gently warm the biscuits in the microwave or oven and serve with butter.

- 6 ounces Beer
- Pinch of Kosher Salt
Instructions
- Prepare a baking pan with parchment paper.
- Measure the Bisquick mix into a bowl.
- Add one or two ounces of beer to the Bisquick and combine carefully. Continue adding beer and mixing until the Bisquick forms a heavy dough, and there are no obvious lumps of mix remaining. Be careful not to add too much beer or to overmix the batter.

- Sprinkle with kosher salt and bake at 350F for 6-12 minutes until the dough just turns golden brown.
Notes
- Use the beer sparingly. Too much beer will make your dough too thin, which will result in flat, unatractive biscuits.
- Don't overmix the batter. You want the biscuit mix to be just barely wet, but without too many lumps. Overmixing will give your biscuits the same issues as too much beer. Just don't do it.
- Baking time will depend on the size of your biscuits and the density of your batter.
- These biscuits are best eaten the same day you make them. If you want to eat them the next day, gently warm the biscuits in the microwave or oven and serve with butter.

I love the idea of these. I’ve never managed to make my own bread but as you say it’s such a treat. These look so much more simple to make, although I’m not sure if we can get Bisquivk in the UK. I’ll have to look into it. Thanks for linking to #DreamTeam x
