I mentioned last week that T went through a rough period during first grade that left her feeling pretty down. She would come home from school some days feeling quite discouraged, and I started to rack my brain for ways to keep her spirits up from first thing in the morning until I picked her up in the afternoon.
One day I decided to pack a little love note in her lunch box. It wasn’t much, just a little sticky note with a sentence or two telling her I love her and to keep smiling.
That afternoon, she greeted me with one of the biggest smiles in months. She even saved that note in her room for weeks. Who knew that something so small could have such a big impact? I suppose you could say that dozens of other people know, because the internet is full of free printable lunchbox notes. Thankfully, I caught on quickly and started to keep a stash of printable notes in the kitchen to slip into T’s lunchbox on a regular basis.
Now that the new school year is starting, both girls will need packed lunches. And if I don’t have a large stash of printable lunch box notes ready in advance, I’m likely to forget them. So I pulled together 20 sources of adorable lunch box notes to send in the girls’ lunches from the very first day. If you printed one of each of these sheets, that would total 174 lunchbox notes in all. That’s almost the entire school year. There are even options perfect for pre-schoolers like L. I’ve already got my stack printed out and hidden in my secret spot in the kitchen. Hopefully, they will bring big smiles to both my girls throughout the entire school year.
