This mulled wine spritzer combines the best flavors of mulled wine with the lightness of a spritzer for the perfect large-batch holiday party drink recipe.
Ask your friends and family about mulled wine, and many will pull a face that looks like they just took a bite out of a sour lemon.
I get it, I really do.
But maybe mulled wine isn’t so bad. Maybe we just need to spruce up the recipe a bit.
After all, if you think about it, it’s not too different than warm sangria with spices. And who doesn’t like sangria on a hot summer day?
Well, I’ll admit that as much as I enjoy sangria, white wine spritzers are my favorite go-to summer drink. And they get a bad rep just like mulled wine.
So what if the two were combined? What if we removed the yuck factor of warm fortified wine, and combined a nice light red wine with the awesome spices of mulled wine and the refreshing fizz of a spritzer?
And so the mulled wine spritzer was born.
It’s surprisingly good, and perfect as a beverage for party guests. You can easily mix up a large batch of the base mix and let it steep for several hours.
Put it in a pretty pitcher for your party and let your guests top off their own glasses with cider.
It’s refreshing, it’s festive, and it’s tasty. Seriously, I haven’t seen one sour lemon face yet.

It sounds good and looks pretty, and to me that’s a plus. I hadn’t heard that mulled wine was supposed to be repugnant, but I guess I haven’t had it per se. I bet it’s good though! Nice to serve for a party or at new Year’s!
