It’s official. The holiday season has started. The free satellite radio preview started the other day, which means that the kids and I are now officially listening to Christmas music. And this is our year off from hosting Thanksgiving…something for which I am very thankful right now.
Though, I don’t want to stay out of the kitchen entirely. We’ll be visiting family and that fabulous new kitchen this Thanksgiving. I hope to get in there and cook or bake something. But what? Thankfully, this year is full of fabulous Thanksgiving ideas…from recipes, to DIY home decor.
6 Fabulous Thanksgiving Ideas to Try this Year
Now that we have three little ones, I’m all about keeping things simple. This oversized centerpiece box from I Should be Mopping the Floor is perfect. I love all the pumpkins for Thanksgiving, and can already imagine it full of greens and holly for Christmas.
Then again, I love a table with lots of layers. A Blissful Nest pulled together one of my favorites. The mini boxwood wreaths on each salad plate are my favorite.
I know that regular yeast rolls are the perennial favorite, but Girl Versus Dough really makes me want to give these Brown Butter Sweet Potato rolls a try. Yum.

Cranberry Sangria from A Night Owl Blog sounds like a tasty drink to have on hand. Though I would prefer to enjoy several glasses of the original, we may just need to throw together a virgin version for me to share with the girls.
As much as I enjoy all the heavy Thanksgiving Day food, I also love a good salad. And farro. The Husband and I have spent the last year and a half trying farro in so many different ways (can’t wait to share more). If we were hosting, I would definitely consider serving this Apple Gouda Farro Salad from Two Peas and their Pod.
A Houseful of Handmade has me drooling over this Apple Butter Pumpkin Pie. A fun twist on a Thanksgiving classic!
