The Husband and I find ourselves at opposite ends of the spectrum on celebrating Christmas Eve. For as long as he can remember, his family always got together and had a sit-down meal on the 24th. They would talk and party until midnight, when they would read the nativity story and open their presents.
My family, on the other hand, never had anything formal for Christmas Eve as kids. I remember one year we actually had cold-cuts as our Christmas Eve dinner. We were allowed to open one gift on Christmas Eve and then had to wait anxiously until the morning to see everything in all it’s glory.
Now that we have our own family, we’re working on creating our own traditions. Last year this included having the in-laws over. Of course, I decked the table up to the nines.
The table was very easy to put together with just a few simple items. I kept the color scheme simple, using a white table cloth, mismatched white plates and a textured green table runner.
I prefer low, simple centerpieces. In this case I cut the flower heads off of a pink and white poinsettia. The largest flowers were put in a medium sized clear vase. The others were placed in clear round glasses. Green potpourri acted as filler, and I was set!
Now I just wish I could say that the buffet was as pretty! To see more about this dinner, see the original post here.
