Does your life feel ridiculously crazy? Do you struggle to find balance in your life? Is “me” time nonexistent with the needs of kids, work and significant others? Do you scroll through Pinterest, looking at crafts and recipes that look so pretty, only to find that they are far too time consuming for your schedule?
Yeah, that’s pretty much me too.
My name is Leslie, and I’m the creator and owner of From Play Dates to Parties. I love my kids and my husband dearly. But I also love to create pretty things…food, parties, crafts, home decor…these are the things that really make me giddy. This blog is where I share those projects that I get to create.
I love to share realistic projects with my readers. I’ve spent time as a work-outside-the-home mother and as a work-at-home mother. I know that we are all too busy to waste time on lengthy crafts. I try to use the easiest steps possible for fantastic results, and if a project I try isn’t worth the effort, I will tell you about it.
Parties and events are in my blood. I worked for a family-operated catering company for six years, and also worked for university catering during college. That’s when I caught the bug for over-the-top parties and delicious food. Budgets and real life force me to think outside the box on how to create memorable events without going overboard. All of the parties you see on this site are real-life parties that you can recreate if you want to.
As a child, I used to rearrange my furniture several times a year. I loved to find crafty ways to design my bedroom, and even remember watching hours of Christopher Lowell between college classes. Designing (and redesigning) my home is a labor of love. We live in a 1960s split-foyer home in the Baltimore/DC suburbs, and making it work for a family of five is one of my favorite challenges.
My projects have been featured on sites like Tip Junkie, Catch My Party, Bird’s Party Blog, Tatertots and Jello, The SITS Girls, Little Miss Celebration, My Pinterventures, The Happy Housie, A Pinch of Joy, Blue Willow House, A Place of My Taste, The CSI Project, Sew Can Do and House of Hepworths.
Let’s not forget the family, though. As outnumbered parents, the littles dominate around our house. We’ve got two strong and spirited girls, T and L, and one sweet little boy, E. Without my kids and husband, this space wouldn’t exist. In between cooking, crafting, and decorating, I love to share parenting hacks and our family adventures.
