Long ago, before I ever had any intention of seriously attempting event planning as a profession, the Husband and I hosted our first (and only) Thanksgiving dinner. We had finally settled into our house, and having kids was still something we talked about doing ‘someday’.
That was the first dinner party I had ever served; and I still found a way to serve buffet! Just call me a southern girl; when I think party, I think buffet:
Here again you see the messy kitchen in the background. On the buffet, we served the Tried and True mashed potatoes and trifle, two types of cranberry sauce, the stuffed turkey, and two types of stuffing.
For the first time ever, I did actually put together table settings. Ironically, we don’t actually have real china, but we have absolutely beautiful silver. I was so excited to finally use it. We were supposed to borrow china from my in-laws, but they accidentally forgot..so our everyday dishes starred again!
It was a lot of fun hosting Thanksgiving. We’re not hosting this year, because our house is just too small for the whole family now that there are three little ones involved, but I look forward to trying to put together a dinner party again sometime soon!
