When it comes to slime themed birthday parties, you can either stress, or embrace the mess.
With three kids ages 10 and under, I’ve stressed about enough spills and stains. So when a reader requested slime party ideas, we decided to embrace the mess and come up with some fun (and messy!) slime party games and activities!
Disclaimer: I’ll admit that it was easier to do this during summer. We just added a sprinkler to the mix and the mess wasn’t an issue. Want tips for bad weather days? I’ve got some for you at the bottom of this post!
Slime Making Party Station
Of course I had to start with this, because it is the classic slime party activity. Of course, you’ll want to have a good basic slime recipe for the kids to make. Once you’ve got that, the rest is in the set up
What you’ll need for a Slime Making Station
- Plenty of disposable tablecloths
- craft sticks for stirring
- individual bowls for mixing and transporting the kids’ slime (we love these)
- The ingredients to your slime recipe (we like this clear slime recipe)
- Mix-ins (glitter, confetti, food coloring, etc)
- Pens or markers for labeling the tags
- Printable signs and tags for labeling the slime (purchase a copy from my shop, or sign up for the newsletter to get your copy for free!)
Next, You’ll Chose Your Set-Up:
There are two ways you can run your slime making station:
The Slime Buffet
Simply, set up a buffet table with all the different ingredients. When the party starts, the kids can just grab what they want and take it to another table to mix and create.
If you like to get good photographs of your parties, this is the kind of thing that would be great for that.
Individual Slime Making Stations
Alternatively, you can set up a dining table with individual stations for slime making. You’ll need to set up each spot with the materials listed above. Then place all the mix-ins down the middle of the table as a fun centerpiece.
The advantage of having individual stations is that everything the kids need is all in one spot. Theoretically that should reduce the blast area, but this is slime making, so be prepared for a mess.

Minute to Win It Slime Party Games
We love minute to win it style games around here, so it only made sense to start there. Here are our favorites:
Find the Worm
This was my kids favorite of all the games we tried. And it’s so simple, too! Players have one minute to find the most gummy worms hidden under a pile of whipped cream.
But there’s a catch: they can’t use their hands!
Seriously, it’s so funny watching the kids go to town on their plates. This one is just as much fun for the parents to watch as it is for the kids to play.
Slurp it Up
Make jello in small plastic cups and have the kids try to slurp it up through a straw. Whoever can get the most jello in one minute wins.
Tip: Add an extra ½ cup of water to your jello mixture so that it is a bit thinner than normal consistency.
Spoon Slogging
This one is super simple: the first player to move six spoonfuls of jello from one bowl to another without spilling wins. BUT no hands allowed!
It’s harder than it seems.
We kept our bowls a few inches apart, but you can change the distance of the bowls or the required spoonfuls for older kids and adults.
Shower Cap Toss
Another simple game for the win! This time, kids are working in teams.
Stand kids in teams of two with each teammate 2-3 feet apart (farther for older kids). One kid gets a shower cap covered with shaving cream, and the other a bowl of Cheetoes or other fun treat.
Kids have one minute to toss Cheetoes onto their teammates cap and make them stick. The team with the most
Cheetoes at the end of a minute wins!
Simple Slime Party Games
Sometimes the best party activities are the easiest. Here are a couple simple ideas to try:
Shaving Cream Balloon Fight
You read that right! Fill your balloons with shaving cream instead of water and let the kids go at it! My girls looooooved doing this. Though the mess starts long before the balloons are tossed.
If you’re not careful when filling your balloons, you’ll just end up with shaving cream coming right back out of the top of the balloon. Make sure you stretch the balloons really well and hold the balloon opening tight around the nozzle. (And keep lots of towels handy!)
Silly String Fight
This is about as straight forward as it gets. Grab a bunch of cans of silly string from the Dollar Store and let the kids go hog wild!
Now It’s Your Turn
Are you ready to embrace the mess with themes slime party games? If you’ve got good weather, then simply set up the sprinkler and there’s so much less to worry about.
What if the weather isn’t right for the sprinkler? That’s a great time to make use of your garage. Just make sure to have plenty of paper towels and wet-wipes ready too. Here are the games from this list that are garage friendly:
- Find the worm
- Slurp it up
- Spoon Slogging, and
- Shower Cap Toss
