I had different plans for this post. I had envisioned telling you about T’s fabulous visit with Santa Clause, and posting a beautiful picture of her in her cute little dress, sitting on Santa’s lap. Well, reality stepped in and we don’t have such a picture. I’ll back up a little bit, first.
Every year, our church sponsors a “Breakfast with Santa”, where families can avoid malls, support the teen church organizations and have professional pictures taken of their kids with Santa Clause. We were thrilled to sign up, and even invited the in-laws to join us. T woke us up early, as usual, and we hurriedly got dressed to go to Mass and then head on over to see Santa.
Everything was going well for so long. While we waited for the Husband’s parents, we all got our breakfast and T colored on the placemats. When Santa entered with his jingle bells, T got all excited. For so long she kept looking over, saying “Dan-da! Dan-da!”. We thought this was going to be a breeze. We were so wrong.
By the time the in-laws arrived and ate their breakfasts, T’s excitement must have completely dissipated. I was surprised at how quiet she was while we were in line, and tried to get her happy and excited again by singing Christmas carols to her. Then, we walked up to see Santa…and she didn’t even make it into his lap. She let out a scream so loud, the entire place went quiet. I.am.not.exaggerating. She was screaming and crying so hard, she wouldn’t even take her pacifier, which is pretty bad for her. We gave it a few minutes and tried again..but this time she didn’t even make it up the stairs. *Sigh*
Hopefully next year goes better.
For now, I’ll just leave you with a picture of T from the party (which was a great success by the way…more on that later)
