It seems like everywhere I turn these days, the men I know are all talking about specialty beer…especially microbrews. My brother-in-law and his wife brew their own beer, and I even know a guy who’s just started his own commercial microbrew. With all this beer love in the air, I asked some of the guys in my life what beers they would love to receive as gifts. Here are some of the tops:
Another Dogfish Head favorite is the Noblerot. The Noblerot is a unique, limited edition, beer that actually uses viognier and pinot gris grapes in the fermentation process. With how much we love wine, it’s no surprise that it was the Husband’s first choice in a beer he’d like to get as a gift.
Looking for something with some history behind it? Chimay Trappist Ale is a traditional Belgian-style beer that is actually brewed within the walls of a Trappist monastery. Only about six or seven ales can actually carry this name. It’s a smooth enough beer that I’ve actually seen it used in place of the traditional champagne toast at a wedding!
Now, I’m not specifically familiar with Lagunitas Brewing Company, but it came very highly recommended as a fantastic craft brew. Like many craft breweries, their selection changes frequently. They provide seasonal brews in both six-packs and 20-22 ounce bottles.
The most important thing to remember when buying beer for someone is to remember what they like. One of my co-workers put it plainly this way: “Most people I know who like beer don’t have a favorite. They like to try variety. The best way to gift beer is to go to the specialty aisle and pick out a few different kinds”.
Does the Dad in your life have a favorite beer? I’d love to hear any suggestions in the comments section!
