Is it just me or are men particularly difficult to purchase for? My father, my step-father, my husband; they’re all impossible to buy for. Either they want things that are way out of the price range, or they have already purchased for themselves the things that are within budget.
Where this really gets me is at the office. Somehow I ended up in a group that is dominated by men. Every year I struggle to come up with appropriate holiday gifts. This is where women are easy. Get a nice smelling candle or some bath salts and you’re set. Men aren’t so simple.
This is why I’m so grateful for Etsy this year. It seems like 2012 is the year that Etsy has taken off for men’s accessories and gifts. Check it out:
Beer Soap. This is a great variation of those typical gifts you would give a female acquaintance. Everyone knows where to go for soaps that smell like every flower in the field, but why not give the man in your life the gift of smelling like his favorite beverage? (Six pack from Homebrew Soaps, Guinness Soap from Hills Natural Soap)
BBQ Spice Rubs. I know who’s king of the grill at my house. Make your own, or check out any one of these special spice blends from Dell Cove Spices.
Artisinal Beef Jerkey. I don’t know what it is about men and beef jerkey, but I know the Husband has a total soft spot for it. I’m particularly interested in this jerkey from New Jerk City, since it’s completely made from local New York beef and wines.
Candied Jalapeno Relish. Also known as Cowboy Candy, I know both men and women who would probably love this gift. Combine it with any of the gifts above, and you’re sure to have a hit. Buy it through From Mama’s Kitchen.
What stocking stuffers do you give your hard-to-buy for men?
