I’ll admit it, having kids during the winter is tough. Thankfully, the weather’s been mild this winter and we’ve enrolled T in lots of weekend activities. But it’s still hard to make sure that the particularly cold and blustery days don’t all become times holed up inside watching kid movie marathons or baking cookies.
So to help quell those restless winter days, I’ve pulled together a few ideas that {I hope} will entertain the toddler on days when it’s just no good to go outside to play.
Martha Stewart recommends making a Hopscotch Mat – an activity I saw T’s class doing in school. I actually copied this during our days home through Hurricane Sandy by using painter’s tape on the back of an Ikea play mat.
I absolutely love this idea of Indoor Ice Skating from Inner Child Fun. You can tell that Valerie’s children were having a blast, and it just takes wax paper and a carpet.
T loves to go exploring with the Husband, and usually brings back several ‘found’ rocks. How fun would it be to take some of those rocks, paint them white, and create a pretty little snowman like this stacked rock snowman from Pinta La Luna?
Another Martha Stewart recommendation, I think it could be so cute to create several of these Pipe Cleaner Creatures and leave them in fun little spots all over the kid’s rooms.
