I realized last week that I have less than six weeks until the start of the Year of the Party. As mentioned yesterday, I’m kicking everything off with a Christmas party for T and her little friends from school. I know. I’m insane to plan a party for kids between the ages of 14 and 18 months. I’m still doing it. Really, this party will be more like a play date. It can be so difficult to get to know the other families when you’re trying to deal with an excited and tired toddler. Since we will likely be seeing each other several more times over the next few years, it would be good to get to know each other better.
In order to keep things simple for the little ones, I’m adapting the ever-so-popular cookies and milk theme. Seriously, cookies and milk are perfect for a Christmas party. They are still Santa’s favorite, aren’t they? I’ve been writing down ideas for months, but hadn’t done much else before last week. So it was time I got off my hiney and got moving!
(Side Note: One of my pet peeves is having a party with just snack food-yet here I am breaking that rule hard and fast. I’m willing to break this rule because cookie exchanges and the like are so common this time of year; plus I figure that most of the cookies will actually be eaten by the adults! I’ll just have to make sure that the invitation makes it clear that regular food will not be included.)
Of course, my first stop was invitations. I haven’t got the final invitation design yet, but here are some of the invitations that caught my eye while searching:
