So, to continue what I started yesterday…in addition to the buffets, I decorated the rest of our upper level to make it as kid-friendly and Christmas-y as possible. The living room was filled with plush Christmas toys (sorry, I wasn’t able to get a picture), wreaths (made from dollar store and Target dollar spot items) hung in all the windows. I wrapped our artwork in green paper, and threw on some snowflakes for a little bit more Christmas cheer.
I covered large pieces of cardboard with inexpensive wrapping paper to keep the kids out of the bookcases and filing cabinet. Inspired by Paula, at JC’s Loft, I lined the upper glass doors with more green wrapping paper and draped some kitschy tinsel garland around the top. (If you can’t be kitschy with 1 year olds, who can you be kitschy with?) The desks were cleared of anything that wasn’t too large to move, and covered with tree skirts, random decorations and ornaments that we already had on hand.
I also covered the floor with T’s toys from the playroom, including a basket full of books, a dollhouse, a rocking horse, stacking blocks and a toy cube with a roller coaster toy on top.
