We’ve been working late almost every night this week trying to get the house ready for out-of-town guests this weekend; so I’m going to take a few minutes away from reality to dream about what my perfect Mother’s Day would be like…
– First, sleeping later than 6:30 or 7am Sunday morning. Simple as that.
– A clean, uncluttered house. No laundry waiting to be done. No dishes in the sink. No dishwasher waiting to be emptied….and did I mention that this dream doesn’t include me taking care of all these items on Saturday just so they won’t have to be done on Sunday?
– Cuddles with my little one. At least for a little while. We’re going through the terrible two’s/three’s right now and GOOD GRIEF! Sometimes I think she skipped childhood and went straight to the drama-queen teen mood swings!
|This was about 5 minutes before a serious exhaustion meltdown!|
– Being left alone. I know I should want to spend the whole day with my family and appreciating my kid(s). But really, I just want a few hours home alone with nothing that needs to be done. Maybe I could actually read that book that’s been on my Kindle App for the last few months….
Fortunately, or unfortunately, the weekend is likely to be a whirlwind of shuffling people from here to there and coordinating schedules. We’ve got nearly a dozen family members coming into town, so you know life is going to be nuts! As far as the peace and quiet that is so needed right now…I suppose there’s always next year.
