I officially graduate to 33 weeks pregnant tomorrow! My nerves and concentration have been shot over the last couple of weeks. It’s hard to imagine that at this point in my last pregnancy, T was only two weeks away from being born.
I’m also realizing just how much I’ve forgotten about my pregnancy with T. Just so I don’t let mommy brain take away any more of my memories, here’s a quick comparison of my two pregnancies so far:
T: Pretty darn close to ready three months in advance. Although I didn’t feel emotionally or physically ready even the day before her birth.
|The only corner semi finished…|
Baby 2: What’s preparation? If this kid were born tomorrow, she wouldn’t have a place to sleep. The crib is full of junk, and we need to go get our co-sleeper back from the couple we lent it to a year and a half ago. Oops!
Morning Sickness: T: Mild all-day nausea until about 14 weeks. Easily managed with small quantities of salty food.
Baby 2: Sick from week 4 through just a couple weeks ago. Unsuccessfully tried medication. Managing third trimester sickness with a balance of avoiding trigger foods, and only eating just enough.
For this to make any sense, you’ll first need to know that I found out during my first pregnancy that I have what’s called a bicornuate uterus. Not a huge deal, it just means that I’ve got a dip to the top of my uterus that cramps the space a bit and can make it more likely that I’ll have a breech baby or preterm delivery.
T: Left side, head up. Her head was lodged in my left rib cage for at least the last couple weeks.
Baby 2: Right side, head down. Her bottom’s currently lodged in my right rib cage, making breathing really difficult.
Movement: T: Felt all sorts of movement from about week 16 throughout the pregnancy. Honestly, I really don’t miss those kicks to my cervix.
Baby 2: Anterior placenta kept me from feeling much until recently. I’ve learned to enjoy and appreciate all the kicks and flutters!
Weight Gain: T: Gained a total of about 30 pounds.
Baby 2: Exactly 20 pounds so far. I will admit that getting weighed in weekly makes me reconsider having those extra helpings (that and worrying about morning sickness.
The Husband and I keep saying that we’ve got a second little drama queen on the way. All I want is for her to last another six weeks before making her presence. We’ll see!
